Thank you to those parents who came to open house last night! It was wonderful to meet you.
Today is math, students worked on probability. We reviewed vocabulary associated with chance events (likely, very likely, certain, impossible, 50-50 chance, etc. ) We then went on to the thumbtack experiment. Students first had to guess what would happen when they drop a thumbtack on the floor. Is it more likely to land with the point up or with the point down? They then went on to perform the experiment, dropping 10 thumbtacks 10 different times and recording their responses. On Monday, we will discuss the data and learn more about probability. Pictures of this activity are below.
This afternoon, students were able to read with 2nd graders outside for 20 minutes. It was a beautiful day to enjoy the outdoors. Students had different partners than they did last week. We hope to continue this buddy reading until the weather gets colder.
Friday afternoons we go to computer lab. During computer lab, all students were introduced to raz-kids. They are all listening/reading to books at their designated level. Whenever possible, please allow them to do this at home.
Have a great weekend!
