Below are two videos to assist students in science and math. The first video is on the parts of the ear. Students can watch this tonight to help with their studying for their quiz tomorrow.

Today is math, we discussed finding the LCD (least common denominator) when adding and subtracting fractions. The video below can help students with their homework tonight if needed.

Hi Everyone,

I hope that everyone enjoyed their snow day yesterday! I am so happy we did not get as much snow as expected! Snow days are fun, but summers are better!! πŸ™‚

We will be having a quick science quiz Friday on parts of the ear and vocabulary. Students have been making flash cards and studying in class over the past week. They will be bringing their study materials home tonight. Please see pictures below to help with studying.

Dreambox

Sorry everyone! The students brought it to my attention today that I never added the Dreambox link under my “helpful links” tab. The link is now below as well in the helpful link tab. Please encourage our students to use this program at home as much as possible to improve our math skills.

Thanks!

Green Screen Project

Hi everyone,

We have reached the end of our persuasive writing unit. Students are in groups and will be writing a persuasive letter and creating a “commercial” using a green screen application we have on the iPad. It is a great way for students to apply what they have learned in the unit, and have fun while doing it. An example of what is expected of them is below. Once the students have created the letter, they will then being putting together their commercial.

The app we are using is green screen DO INK. If possible, it would be great for students to play around with this at home! All you need is a large green sheet or green paper as the backdrop. Please see the youtube video below with more information regarding this app.

Thanks for checking in! πŸ™‚

Close Reading

Hi everyone,

As you know, close reading is an important skill students need to master! This week in reading and for homework, students will read complex texts independently and for a specific purpose. They will then answer text-dependent questions. Please see the picture below to help with understanding what it means to be a close reader as well as the article we will be focusing on the next 2 days.

Thanks!

Ms. Gray

Declaration of Independence

Hi Everyone,

We started discussing the Declaration of Independence! We discussed the three basic rights this document gave to men, the reasons why it was written as well as the “grievances” Thomas Jefferson had against King George III. Ms. Lynam will be in tomorrow to watch a fun lesson I have planned on the Declaration of Independence! Tonight for homework, the students need to SKIM through the Declaration of Independence and highlight 10 words they are unsure of. Β They do not need to write down anything or find the definitions. We will discuss this in class tomorrow. Below is a video of The Declaration being read!

Thanks,

Ms. Gray
