Happy Monday! This is a big week for our 5th graders!
Tuesday, Justice Eveleigh will be here to talk to the fifth grade class. He will be talking about our court systems, how it works, what it takes to be a judge, etc. Please see the link below for more information on him. We also have unit 7 math test tomorrow. Study hard! The video posted last week to assist students with homework is a great study tool!
Wednesday, the students will take the science CMT. The testing time will be from 9:15-11:00. We will have our specials in the afternoon at 2:30 on Wednesday.
Thursday, we will be going to Hartford to learn about state and federal governments. The knowledge students gain from the visit with Justice Everleigh will tie in great with this field trip.
Friday, I will not be here. All 5th grade teachers will be at training.
We are finishing up our fantasy writing pieces in writing. Many students asked to type. With only 3 computers in the classroom and limited access to the computer lab, a lot of the typing needs to be done at home. While conferencing with the students, I have noticed many students have been switching their writing from past to present tense or vice versa. It is important for students to be consistent with their writing and to stay with one tense. If your child is typing at home, please take a look at their writing and assist them with their tenses. This is also something we will be touching on in class again very soon. Students should be adding their writing pieces to their Edmodo backpack. This allows me to keep track of their writing. I can edit/revise/make comments to their pieces from home and students will get these updates immediately.
Please see picture below of our students excited to read our read aloud book “All the Answers.” It’s our favorite time of the day. 🙂
As always, thanks for your support!
